Hey! Who here has played around with Silverlight? What are your impressions? Whats good about it and whats bad about it? Pretty frustrating that Silverlight does not work in Windows 2000 or linux at the moment since I've heard a few positive remarks about it besides the linux issue in the past few days.

The problem with Silverlight is that MS are trying to reinvent the wheel. We already have Flash so are the main developers going to start moving away to Silverlight? Probably not.

We would then be faced with the problem of MS unsupporting it if it fails so for me i wouldn't touch it for a few years until it is found its feet.

True, also cool that Flash now supports 3D in the new version. Something that Silverlight doesn't have (yet?). But I heard that streaming videos with Silverlight is better?

I fail to find logic here. If you don't use it, Microsoft will assume it as a failure and and drop it anyway.

Is silverlight just another flash player? Iv seen it, i just dont know what its purpose is...
