Currently downloading Windows 7, will install soon. Who else here is trying it or going to try it? Be fast if you do since Beta might close soon. wink.gif

I currently have it installed on my 8.9 inch netbook running intel atom 1.6ghz processor and 1gb of ram. Now you would think that my specs are lacking but was I in for a surprise. Windows 7 is pretty much bug free and super fast on my netbook. Also I'm really happy with the improvements they made to the applications that come with windows like wordpad and paint. I use wordpad for taking notes in school, theres almost no need for MSword anymore since they turned wordpad into a lite version of it. All around I would have to rate this the best Microsoft operating system out there, even in beta. Also IE8 is awesome.

I was going to hold off on it for the fact that it's beta, but I might actually give it a try. I've been trying to get Vista on my SATA drive, but I've been having a hard time getting it to recognize my Linksys wireless card. I read a few articles that seemed to have success with it.. So might try it out smile.gif

What you should do is get a program called DriverMax. It's free to use and free to download. Its a easy to use program that lists all out-of-date drivers and missing drivers and link you to download them. It also provides drivers made by 3rd parties, for example, if you need a video driver for vista but xfx (the video card manufacturer) has not created a driver for vista then a 3rd party company may have and you be able to have a working video card (or whatever your problematic device maybe).

Well, the problem is the fact that Vista 64 doesn't have any compatible drivers from Linksys right out of the box. I've already search up and found an article that lists exactly what to do and what drivers to use wink.gif

But thanks though smile.gif

How is it? I'm running Vista, and despite popular consensus, I'm actually quite enjoying it.

Windows 7 isn't too bad in terms of loading times/performance etc compared to the rather sluggish Vista. From the offset, it honestly looks little different from Vista, just with extra features etc.

My pain with all the new Microsoft stuff is the gloss overkill.

Uses about 400mb in RAM too compared to Vista which uses about what, 1 gb? Good improvement imo.

Even all the drivers work.

Can't say that for Vista because I had some problems with that in the beginnen.

I would like to get it. Does anyone have a free computer they are willing to give me, so I could download it and not have to worry about screwing up my computer? Haha. It sounds pretty great.

It's the predecessor to Windows Vista. :)

It's actually very, very good. I'm using Windows 7 RC1.

First of all, I'm going to say I'm a Mac user. I've used Windows 7 Beta and RC and had RC installed on my Mac mini at one point with Boot Camp. It is good for a Windows Operating System but not a Mac OS X killer. I'm going to upgrade all of the PC's in my house to Windows 7 once the final version is released.
