When I coded a 2 column design the other day with floats, I did a <br /> with a class with clear:all & height/font size set to zero in it. This is the way I usually do it since I've never experienced any issues with it. However, I checked my code on IE8 and the <br /> caused a space between the column and the footer. Guess I'll have to use div's for that now or hope they will change this in the final version of IE.

What are the current known bugs for IE8 that you know of? Yikes, hope I don't have to fix all my sites! Thanks Microsoft! smile.gif

I imagine IE8 is now taking the margin or padding properties for such tags. Try adding padding: 0px or/and margin: 0px into the style and see if that works. I havent bothered experimenting with IE8 yet as it is too early on for me to even consider it.

I've read that IE8 will implement a new feature in which you can tell it to use IE7's rendering engine with a meta tag.

Yeah it has the option in it to switch to ie7 but. the only way it works is if you hit the button when it first loads. sux really. ie8 isnt compatible with windows update just yet. so it wont allow you to do manual updates. i know they just released the beta 2 version but i wont be checkin it out. lol too many issues with exploits for ie gong around atm. numerous Anti virus companies and microsoft is tellin customers to use a different browser because they cant patch the bugs quick enough.
