I am trying to find a good, and not too expensive, directory script to use for my new site. But there are so many different ones that I am having a hard time to choose.

Do you know a about any good ones? Which one should I choose? This is the first time I create a web directory so is there anything else I should know about?

Although its not free, you should check out phpLD. I've used it on one of my directories before and I was very satisfied with the amount of features it had and its powerful backend.

Php My Directory also seems like a good directory script. Has anyone here tried that one? Its a bit expensive tho...
