I think it could be quite fun if a bunch of us started a community project, something where we all can plunge our skills into and build a web application.

Be good to get on board some designers, programmers, seo experts, sponsors etc.

Jamie

You know what Jamie, I actually really like that idea! What's on your mind, a CMS or forum script, or something completely different?

Sounds good to me too! What do you have in mind Jamie? I'm not the greatest designer, but could code some though... :) Looking forward to hearing some "plans".

K4BB is a forum script Sam aqquired. Now you mention it, it could be a good idea. We set the forum up as freely available to download and use, however as a community we work to build on it, and create a few skins and mods for it.

You guys can test this out at http://www.forumise.com.

We could assign people to design roles, icon designers, skinners etc.

On the other hand, we could create a script such as a helpdesk script or bug tracker or something useful people will use within their websites etc.

I'm open to ideas however it could be cool to get something started and I'm quite happy to project manage this - End of the day; this could be something we can all say we contributed too and put it in our CV/Resume and Portfolios.

I like the idea of something besides a bulletin board, I think we should do something more oriented towards what this forum targets to attract. I currently am working on an open source project myself that I could work as well its a client management tool. I'm actually making an open source company which creates abunch of open source tools for freelancers but that is the start.

Cheers,
Randy

That's awesome, I like the idea, I was planning on making one too for manage2.com (also open source). Just haven't got round to starting it yet, how far is yours?

@Blambu, I just decided to continue the development with approval of the creators, I didn't buy the project however. :)

I always find Smarty to be a bit of an overkill, isn't the fastest engine out there, would recommend you to build one for it personally :).

Let us know when you have a preview online, looking forward to seeing it :).

Would anyone like to volunteer to manage this project? I would be willing if no one else wants to!

Thanks guys for offering to manage the project, you both would fit the requirements, I don't really have a preference on who manages the project, my vote however would go to Blambu since he came up with the idea. Shall we have a member poll & let the community decide?

I agree with this, and I don't really think a member poll would be required for this though. :) ;)

Well, if members are participating, it would be good to atleast give them the chance to vote/let us hear their voice :).
