I'm running on an HP Pavilion laptop, dv6700 - and my power input seems to have broken a few minute ago. 71% of battery remaining and after that I will have to see if I'll be able to post here, might finally be time for me to upgrade myself to a Mac.
Any tips for me on how I'd best be able to fix this problem?

If by power input you mean the hole where the actual power wire goes into has broken your laptop has done its job for now.
It's such a common problem with laptops - you can either try and solder a new input back onto the motherboard... (that's if its the connector legs have fully snapped off) or send it out for repairs.

Since it's no longer under guarantee, I think experimenting myself or buying a new laptop would be the wisest thing to invest in. (23% battery remaining). And yep, I meant the power hole. Will try to fix it after the battery runs out, wish me luck!
Salathe, you didnt do a "DROP sams_laptop" query again did you?!

P.S. Sorry for breaking it, never knew a SELECT query could bust your power input.
Haha. Someone needs a spanking.
Nah, but back on-topic though; I don't have a laptop, but a "Frankenstein Style" Desktop computer. It used to be a Gateway Essential from 2000, with a 20GB HDD, 300MB Ram, and ran Windows 98SE/XP Home Edition on it. Was about a year or so ago that I actually upgraded the inner guts of it to a mini Intel Essential Processor / Motherboard Combo unit. Upgraded the HDD to 500GB, and it now has 2GB for ram. Would like more, but the Motherboard can't handle anything over 2GB max...

After opening my laptop last night, I found out there was nothing wrong there so I decided to strip the head of the power cable where I found my problem - so repair will be easy. I have decided though to get an iMac on the side for real work. I always find myself messing up my muscles when sitting on the sofa with my laptop.

The power connector inside the laptop? I took mine to a shop to fix and they replaced it with a new one, did all the soldering etc. but I think they balled it up somehow cause it still doesn't work.
Easy fix????

Mine is a complete assembled PC with Core 2 Duo Quad processor and 4 GB RAM. Gaming is much easier for me
