Some of you might know this, others might not. But it's quite frustrating. Apparently file uploading won't work with Flash Player 10. It's currently in beta but it looks like they have scrapped it out completely. So scripts like SWFUpload (http://swfupload.org/) which is used by Invision, the software that powers this community and Wordpress will not work. However, there is a new beta of SWFUpload released with a fix, but Flash 8 support and below will be dropped.

From Adobe:
QUOTE
Throwing error 2176 prevents a security vulnerability that could allow dialogs to be displayed without an explicit action by the user. WordPress will need to alter their code so that they do not indirectly call FileReference.browse to display the file dialog.

Does anyone here know what the statistics are of people currently using Flash Player 8? Looking forward to some responces. I believe most people will have upgraded but you never know smile.gif.

It's not the ability to spawn a file browsing dialog, or the ability to actually upload files, that was scrubbed; just the ability to call the FileReference.browse (to display the file browsing dialog) from outside of Flash. Sure, that "disability" might have kicked many of the Flash file uploading utilities in the crotch but the workaround was simple and easily implemented: use Flash directly to open the dialog box.
